The long extension of the lower petal of Viola rostrata gives it the name Long-spurred. The blossoms rise on long stalks above the cordate leaves.

I like the orangish ovary contrasting against the violet color of the blossom. Notice the veins on the petals, and the dark purple accents on each petal.
