Cercis canadensis - Eastern Redbud. The Eastern Redbud adds a pink hue to the forest edges in early spring.

The blooming of the redbud trees are one of the early indicators of the end of winter here in North Georgia.

Note: The photos here are, unlike most of the photos on this website, of a cultivated tree, taken for convenience sake. However, there are dozens of naturally-occurring redbud trees in the immediate vicinity. I simply didn't want to fight the briars and brambles to get to them.
